YB Normal Dinner Recap
We had a blast at our annual YB Normal Welcome Dinner to kick off a new year with a great new class of 6th graders!
Goodbye 8th Graders!
This morning we said goodbye to our graduating class of 8th graders. It was sad to see them go but we’re excited to see all of the amazing things God has in store for them in high school. We’ll miss you guys!

LSCA Summer Camp Recap
We had a great time out at Jr. High 1 at LSCA on July 11-16. We had just under 100 kids, nearly 30 of whom were from West Side. Here are a couple fun videos from the week.

To All A Good Night
Our church-wide Christmas Outreach this year is called To All A Good Night. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to provide bedding both for children in our adopted community of Nairobi, Kenya and also for children in Springfield. Specifically, we’re challenging all of our kids to help collect money in one of two ways. First, we have gift certificates available in the concourse between now and Christmas Eve. We’re challenging kids to give up one or more gifts and ask for To All A Good Night dontaions instead or even give them as gifts. Second, we’ve put together a fundraising sheet to allow kids to tell others about the goal and ask for their help. It is similar to a walk-a-thon sheet but instead of walking a certain distance, kids can choose to go without a mattress, or pillow, etc for a certain number of nights this month (since so many kids around the world are forced to go without those items). You can download the sheet or pick up a copy in E200 (or around the building) this week.
Finally, if you haven’t yet seen it, be sure you check out thisvideo that we took in Kenya two years ago. It gives youa basic layout of a dorm at the school in Kenya (where we’re trying to provide beds so more students can attend) and helps you understand just how meaningful something like a bed can be to a Kenyan student.Note: The video is about 5 minutes long but if you don’t have time to see it all, skip ahead to 4:37. That is the coolest part.

CIY Move Recap
This weekend some of our 8th graders and I got back from the CIY Move Conference in Carbondale, IL. It was an incredible week so be sure you ask one of the kids who went to tell you a little about it. You can also check out the new High School website, studentlife.wschurch.org to see pictures from the week as they are posted.
Wednesday in particular was pretty cool. That afternoon CIY hosted a talent contest for the entire conference. Our very own Kristina entered…and won! She beat out high school juniors and seniors with this amazing song and got the chance to perform for everyone on Wednesday night.
LSCA – Jr. High 1
Right now we’re wrapping upa week of summer camp at LSCA with our 6-7th graders. It has been a blast and I can’t believe it is almost over. Check out thehighlight video below. Or, you can check it out here in HD.
